Programs

Cantara Safe House: Offers services for individuals or families in abusive relationships; for others who are concerned about someone, and for anyone wanting a better understanding of abusive relationships.

24-Hour Crisis Line:
Trained staff is available to answer phone calls 24 hours a day and provide support, information, referrals and advocacy (when requested) Walk in appointments are also available.

Accommodation:
Short term (up to 21 days) shelter is provided for families fleeing abuse. Staff provides support, information and assistance, while individuals plan the next step.

Support Groups:
Paths of Change (Phases 1 & 2) Weekly meetings open to women 18 years and older offer support and information.

Outreach Support:
You do not need to stay in the shelter to receive help. Cantara Safe House’s Outreach program bridges the gap between families and individuals in crisis and community services and is available to everyone who has been affected by abuse (including friends and family).

Healthy Families Outreach:
CSH in partnership with Lifetalk Counseling and The SPEC Association is pleased to offer a program that works together to provide supports to immigrant families in the Brooks and District area. For more information and referrals please contact Kathy Bruins @ (403) 793-8180

Presentations:
Educational / Awareness presentations on violence and abuse are available for interested organizations. Presentations can be tailored to specific interests.

2nds on 1st Thrift Store:
The shelter operates a thrift store that sells clothing and household items. People in need can obtain a voucher (from the shelter) to receive items at no cost. The store is located at 107- 1st St West. (403) 362-8338
